The Belinda and Sonja Varsity Lakes Appeal (Sailors with a Disability)

Belinda and Sonja qualified at the Special Olympics Adelaide Nationals to be members of the Australian Team to go to the World Summer Games in Athens 2011 supported by Special Olympics Australia.

The girls have put in a tremendous effort over the past 10 years to further the opportunities available to Sailors with a Disability.

You can also assist by donating cash, boats, anything to assist this worthy cause.

The Commodore (Chris Ruston) explained that to support the girls programs at the new Varsity Lakes Community Sports House and on the Southport Broadwater the Trustees have recognised that appeal money (and Boat Donations) will need to go toward additional gap items such as larger training boats, a pontoon, equipment, safety training, and coaching.

He pointed out that we have special schools and more physically disabled persons on standby, ready to attend, but without the gap items in place we will not be able to provide an adequate service. It is extremely important to raise money in order to offer training programs for Youth, Seniors, existing Sailors and Volunteers.

Chris said that people can make a difference no matter the size of their gift. You can "Text" Chris on 0400289963
