The Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children is Australia's major independent special educator, providing a wide range of educational services to children who have significant hearing and/or vision loss, including children who have additional disabilities.

In affiliation with the University of Newcastle, RIDBC conducts a centre for research and professional development in the education of children with impaired hearing or vision.

RIDBC is one of Australia's longest established charities, having been founded in 1860. Today, it conducts home-delivered and centre-based education programs, several special schools, as well as supplying other schools with visiting teachers.

RIDBC is driven by a recognition that all children, irrespective of disability, deserve to receive education, training and other services which will enable them to develop their skills and capabilities to the fullest.
