RPH Adelaide Incorporated

 This organisation accepts volunteer labour

1197am RPH Adelaide is an independent, not-for-profit, community station providing South Australia’s Radio for the Print Handicapped service.

As more than 14% of South Australians have some form of print disability(146,000 people), 1197am RPH Adelaide plays a vital role in meeting their information needs. Among this group are people with severe vision loss, those who understand spoken English but cannot read it easily, people with learning difficulties or dyslexia, and those with physical disabilities such as arthritis.

With a mission to “provide a quality reading and information service to those within its broadcast area who are unable (for whatever reason) to access daily printed material”, 1197am RPH Adelaide is unique in South Australia as it provides a service unavailable from other stations, offering access to newspapers, magazines and journals via volunteer readers.

This invaluable service is funded by business sector sponsorship, public donations, membership and limited Government grants.
